iOS – Closing an application in multi-tasking

iOS devices keep appsthat you may not be using open in the background unless you close them from the multi-tasking tool.  Here is a tutorial on stopping app running in the background on your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.

  1. Push the home twice quickly.
This will bring up the multi-tasking bar which shows all of the apps running in the background on your device.
  2. Push and hold down you finger on any one of the application icons. The applications will bounce around (similar to when you re-arrange applications on the home screen).
A minus sign will appear on the upper left hand corner of the application icons.
  3. If you push on one of the minus signs the application will be closed completely, and no longer run in the background.
Push the home button once to return to the home screen.
